SUBMIT YOUR DEMOS NOW!

Remember Your Sister’s Canary?  The Dirty Gems?  Erin Willett?  What about Envy on the Coast?  You should.  Because not only have all of these artists gotten significant attention over the years, but they all participated - and won - battle of the bands while they were at Hofstra.  Now it’s your turn to get added to that list!  Submit your demo now for a chance to be a part of our “Battle for Music Fest!”  The winner gets to open our annual Spring festival, Hofstra Music Fest, with the possibility of getting another awesome surprise in addition.

This year, the battle isn’t limited to just bands.  We’re looking for everything - bands, groups, solo artists, rappers, etc.  You have until Friday, March 2 to submit your demo to Hofstra Concerts for a chance* to enter.

Please submit your demo by dropping off a physical copy to our office (212 in the student center) or by e-mailing us a link to hofstraconcerts@gmail.com.  To help us out, make a note of which song you would prefer we listen to.  One song you really feel represents you and your music.

*Demo submission does not guarantee contest entry.

(At least one member of each participant must be a current Hofstra student)

Tickets for Kap Slap are still on sale in the atrium!  $3 with a valid Hofstra ID if you get them now.  This is going to be so much better than Bar Stool, so don’t miss it!!

Love in this Club
Ryan Sinnott

Hey, everyone!

I hope you’re all having a nice Thursday.  Tonight is our first coffeehouse of the semester.  It’ll start at 8 PM in the Netherlands Cafe.  Our production manager, Ryan Sinnott, will be performing, so if you haven’t had a chance to see him live yet, you definitely don’t want to miss it.  Other performers will include Sigma’cappella and a new band formed by Hofstra students.

If you would like to help crew tonight, you can meet us in our office (212 in the student center) at 6.  Please remember that coffeehouse attendance, including load-in and/or load-out is mandatory for crewing our upcoming show.  We will also have 11x17s to distribute tonight, so you’ll be able to fulfill your advertising credits.

Lastly, above is a cover of Usher’s Love in this Club recorded by Ryan.  Enjoy.

Hope to see you tonight!

Meeting tonight!

Hey, everyone!

I hope you all are having a nice Monday.  Don’t forget about our meeting tonight at 8:15 in the Rathskellar.  We have advertising to hand out and a few shows to discuss, so definitely make sure you’re there.  And remember, we’re always looking for new members, so let your friends know.

See you at 8:15!

Anonymous asked: Do you have to be a hofstra student to go to the concerts?

No.  We usually have a 1:1 policy for our shows, which means you can come to one of our shows if you know a Hofstra student who is willing to buy you a guest ticket.

WELCOME BACK, EVERYONE!
I hope you’ve all had an amazing break and that you’ve been enjoying your time back on campus.
Tonight is the first Hofstra Concerts meeting of the semester.  It will be in the Rathskellar (downstairs in the student center) at 8:15, just like in the fall.  Please, spread the word and bring a friend!
Remember, if you can’t make it, you’re always welcome to e-mail us (at hofstraconcerts@gmail.com) or stop by the office to get caught up.
In other news, our dear friend Erin Willett has auditioned for the NBC show “The Voice,” which premieres on Sunday, February 5th, after the Superbowl.  I encourage all of you to tune in and give as much support as possible (facebook and twitter).  We’re so proud of her!
See you all soon!
